Every year, there is an introduction of new artists to the music scene, which is also true for the rap scene.  New rappers are hitting the scene that may end up shaking up the music world. Who are some of the rappers you need to be mindful of?

$NOT – If you like the Creator, Xavier Wulf and Denzel Curry, you’ll like the works of $NOT. Some people see his music as dark, but he doesn’t see it that way. He’s not the same as other Florida rappers who have developed aggressive songs to grab the audience’s attention. Instead, he uses his baritone voice to bring ear-catching melodies such as “Like Me” and “Mean.” $NOT is popular on online music stations across the internet

Che Noir – If you like the music of Benny the Butcher and Foxy Brown, you’re going to like the music of Che Noir. She has a style of music that may never become radio hits, but she brings a style of music that no other has before her.  With hits like “2K20” and “Hunger Games,” she will undoubtedly steal 2021 as an up-and-coming rapper.

Morray – This North Carolina rapper has sounds that mimic Drake, Rod Wave and Roddy Ricch.  He’s naturally charismatic, which is sure to help spiral into stardom. His breakout single “Quicksand” includes dance moves that are sure to capture the audience’s attention.  Morray isn’t just looking to become a rapper but also an actor and a screenplay writer. He currently develops music that gets stuck in listeners’ heads.

TikTok Helps with Introduction Of Influential New Rappers

Popular social media TikTok is a favorite among the younger rap & Hip-hop generation, and many budding rappers realize that. These individuals use TikTok to help spread the word about their music, hoping to become one of the greats of 2021. Often their music is picked up from tiktok and played streamed on online radio stations.

Erica Banks – One of the first 2021 viral sensations is Erica Banks. Her music is similar in style to DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion and Asian Doll. Her song “Buss It” was in response to the TikTok dance known as the Buss It Challenge, and it’s earned her rave reviews. Banks, a native of Texas, uses club-ready, bass-heavy beats to deliver her fierce, hypnotic lyrics. Some of her other songs include “Toot That” and “Trip Out.”

KBFR – KBFR was first introduced in 2020 with his viral hit “Hood Baby,” which was released on TikTok. His catchy tunes even caught the attention of the Kardashians. This rapper from Philly saw real attention be paid with his follow-ups such as “Roll the Dice” and “WEGO” – both of which are addictive and can be danced to.  With Columbia Records’ help, it may not be long before KBFR sees more than just TikTok in his future.

Popp Hunna – For those who love Young Thug and Don Toliver, you have Popp Hunna to also listen to. He’s got multiple songs out on YouTube for his listeners to check out – “Take Off,” “I’m Single” and “Adderall” are only some of the songs available.  First recognized in 2020 on TikTok, Popp Hunna has become a name to watch for in 2021.  For him, making music is fun, which is something that shows through the music he produces.
